votive shrine in the historic center gualdo tadino
Virgo Fidelis, the Faithful Virgin, is a figure venerated by the Carabinieri (Police) as their protector. In the town of Gualdo Tadino, on the occasion of the seventh centenary of the death of Blessed Angelo da Casale, a votive shrine dedicated to Virgo Fidelis, along with Blessed Angelo and the hero Salvo d’Acquisto, was inaugurated. This vice-brigadier of the Carabinieri sacrificed his life to save a group of civilians during a roundup by Nazi troops. The beatification process for Salvo d’Acquisto is ongoing. The Banda dell’Arma dei Carabinieri participated in the event with a concert. The shrine depicts the Virgin Mary, Blessed Angelo, and the hero Salvo d’Acquisto, thus combining religious devotion and admiration for those who served with courage and sacrifice. A significant gesture that celebrates faith and duty toward the community.
